^{Key: :[C] (w: Sam Cooke)}

VERSE 1:
She was [C] only six-[Am]-teen, [F] only six-[G]-teen

And [F] I was too [G] young to [C] know

VERSE 2:
We'd [C] laugh and we'd [Am] sing, and [F] do little [G] things
[F] And it [G] made our hearts [C] glow

And [F] I was too [G] young to [C] know

BRIDGE:
So [Dm] why did I give my [C] heart so fast
It [Dm] never will happen a-[C]-gain
But [Dm] I was a mere [C] lad of sixteen
[F] I've aged a year since [G] then

VERSE 3:
She was [C] only six-[Am]-teen, [F] only six-[G]-teen
[F] Oh, with [G] eyes that would [C] glow
[C] She was too [Am] young to [F] fall in [G] love
And [F] I was too [G] young to [C] know
